I would like to personally welcome you to the online home of Eckhart Theological Seminary. Eckhart Theological Seminary has a threefold purpose: to provide the best online theological education, at the lowest cost possible, to every possible student. We are an ecumenical family, rooted in Christian faith, but we are also a conversational family open to dialogue with other faiths. Theology is an exercise in conversation, and we strive to encourage our students to form their theologies in conversation with those of other beliefs. In my opinion, theological education is not meant to be propaganda for a certain dogmatic position, but a journey and conversation with the self and others.

We have decided to design our programs like the British graduate and postgraduate research degrees for one main reason: when a student undertakes researching and writing an original thesis or dissertation under the guidance of a qualified supervisor, that student will have ample opportunity to converse with other ideas and with the self during the research and writing process. This conversation will end up being the best form of education available - much better than simply reading a textbook for a course and having an exam. Therefore, all degrees from ETS are earned by writing an original thesis or dissertation under the guidance of a seminary mentor.
